BreakmanX (AKA Matthew Nyquist) founded BreakmanX.com in 2001 after having small video game websites since around 1996. Things really took off in September of 2002 when he started The Game Show with Richie. BreakmanX.com quickly developed a tight knit community of gamers as the crew covered major industry events and interviewed top industry talent. Break later went to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts to get his MFA in Film and TV Production. He worked in Hollywood for seven years with people like Fred Roos (The Godfather Trilogy, Star Wars) and Dane Davis (The Matrix). He's now gone full circle and returned to Kansas to write and direct a feature film (EyesOpenMovie.com), relaunch The Game Show (BreakmanX.com), and spend his day time hours as an tenured Associate Professor.

We're going to do a show in two weeks or so. I'm trying to round the old crew together to sit around and talk into microphones, so as soon as they return to town (everyone looks like they will be back in two weeks) we will broadcast, LIVE, into your computer. Get your headphones ready, because this will be a show you do NOT want to miss. I can't tell you why, just know that if you like the show, this will be one you don't want to miss. I pre-ordered some of Nintendo's first party line up for the…

I must say that I'm really impressed with Mecha and Riche's revitalization effort. Thanks to my extreme lack of time in 2007, the site has really died down in activity. The lack of shows has really been a drag for me, but I just don't have the time to do it. I barely have time to get all the things I have to get done. That's not to say that the show is done forever, but it is definitely on hiatus for now. August is looking like we may be able to do a show or more. We'll see how…

So here’s the deal. A couple of staff members and I have been thinking up of ways to get our community booming, and hopefully reviving the beast that is Breakmanx.com. The most simplistic idea to execute would be to have a game night. It’ll be a way for us to escape our mundane lives during the summer. In an attempt to get as many people involved in this as possible, we’ll need to decide which game everyone has the ability to play. This is our main priority right now. Time, dates, and details will all come later. This is where…

That's MONOLITH SOFT, not MONOLITH PRODUCTIONS. Two completely different companies. There seems to be a lot of confusion going around about this. With all this talk of Nintendo's financial records skyrocketing, Nintendo has decided to purchase 80% of Japanese video game developer Monolith Soft. The studio is currently working on a new Wii project titled Disaster: Day of Crisis. Monolith Soft is widely known for their work on the Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos franchises, all of which were published by Bandai Namco. So is anyone excited that the Wii might be getting some high caliber RPGs? Or is this just…

Like there was any doubting its existence? Still, apparently KH2: Final Mix (which might actually force me to play through the series if it gets released here) contained a trailer a the end for the supposedly PS3 exclusive KH3. There are some screenshots available here: http://animeclick.lycos.it/notizia.php?id=7349 (sorry it's in Spanish) Looks like the game is using White Engine, the same engine used in FFXIII / Versus FFXIII. The best video we could get our hands on has no audio, sorry. Watch it here . Thanks to Vamp for submitting this story. Discuss it in our forums

I know there are a bunch of Metal Gear Solid fans in our community, so this is a huge treat for all of us. Ryan Payton, hot of the Kojima Productions Report, has just uploaded an interview with the man behind one of the most popular character/voice in gaming history, Solid Snake. David discusses his current projects and talks about his role in Metal Gear Solid 4. It really does sound like Ryan is interviewing Solid Snake himself. Enjoy! The KP Report Session 033 The interview is short but sweet, so nobody should have an excuse not to listen.

So Microsoft has been hyping these 2 huge announcements, the first of the two was revealed yesterday and the 2nd will unveiled tonight. So far, the news is nothing new, just MS confirming the Xbox elite. HDMI port, black finish, 120 GB hard drive; will anybody be trading in their 360 just to get this elite model? I sure won't. Let's hope tonight's announcement will leave more of an impact. Update: Either the announcement hasn't been made yet or the 2nd news story isn't even gaming related. Hype sucks. Discuss!

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GameSpy, a unit of Fox Interactive Media, announced today that it will provide multiplayer technology to game publishers developing titles for Nintendo’s Wii™ video game system. One of my favorite games of all time, definitely top five, is being released on Microsoft's system this Wednesday. This is a game that defined me as a little kid. I used to drop all the quarters I'd earned into the arcade machine until I got the NES port at home. I actually like the NES version a little better because of the added levels, but it is going to be so much fun to play this game online. It is one of those things that if I'd have told myself that back in 1989 I could download this game…

I just did my interview for the Video Game Documentary I mentioned on the show. The guys have a really good premise for their documentary, so it should end up being really interesting. Its nice to see the next generation of geeks carrying on our legacy. I also did an interview with them about the documentary that I will play on the next show. Their perspective is one that really hits home for me. Hopefully you all will see it soon.

***Update*** I got the torrent server back up, but the torrents are gone. I'm rebuilding them… Right now I have Final Show, Community, and then the massive torrent for the entire library building. Someone attacked the torrent server, so it will be down for a little bit. The old one was Windows anyway, so I guess it serves me right. A new Unix based one is in process and should be up by the end of the day.

I've just spent my first half hour with the new Sonic game, and I have quite a few impressions on the title. First of all, I feel exactly how I felt after I played the first Sonic for the Genesis. There's a marvelous wow factor that permeates you with the gameplay and the sense of speed, but there is also a slight feeling incompleteness. Sonic for the Genesis is one of the "almost perfect" games, but I still always felt as if it wasn't quite as complete as the Mario lineage of platformers. Not because there's a clear reason for…

We are in the process of changing all the show downloads to torrent downloads to speed up the process for everyone. I just added all the torrents for the shows that we lost in the hacking; September 27th, 2006 till today. I've made torrents for every episode you can download which you can download in a couple different ways. You can download a torrent that will download every single show at once, or you can navigate to Radio Shows and download the torrents there. I have updated all the download links back to September 27th, but the ones older than…

The Wii as we all know has launched. There is a few games that got some pretty awesome reviews. People that aren't very interested in some of the games out now, may find solace in a few of the games to be released soon. In a recent interview with MTV, Reggie had confirmed that the next big Nintendo release would in fact be Metroid Prime 3 and then in between March of 07 and December 07 we will see Super Mario Galaxy. Then he stated that Nintendo may soon be packaging the Nunchuk attachment with the Wii-mote, those of you…

So today is black friday. I got up this morning at 5:30 AM to go to the Mall with my dad. It was kind of funny, I really wasn't up to going, but I went anyway. So we get there, and we enter through JC Penny and both got free Mickey Mouse snow globes. It didn't really look like there were too many people but the massive parking lot outside the place, I mean top to bottom, was full of cars. So we go over to Best Buy to see if there are any Wiis there. Of course there was…

Yes, the website that is synonymous with stuff we potentially couldn't find anywhere else as well as the biggest trap in the world. Sitting in Business Management today my teacher thought it would be funny to check out how the PS3 was fairing in the land of E. I think its safe to say that we were all a bit surprised when we saw one of the consoles going for 9,000 USD with about one minute left on the bid. Then my teacher went ahead and clicked on the bid only to find that in the few seconds before the…

As most of you already know Microsoft's Xbox Live service has a video marketplace, in which users can download movies and TV episodes onto their 360 Hard drive. According to Xbox marketing manager, Aaron Greenberg, the Xbox live video marketplace will eventually launch in countries other than the United States. This really isn't big news seeing as though the regular Xbox live service isn't US exclusive. So you would think that any new features that come out on the service will eventually make it around the world as well. Rival companies have also pointed out some of the disadvantages to…
