Two Pokemon Crystal daycare eggs. One city still left to explore. Let’s go.
Picking Up: The Pokemon Crystal Daycare Eggs
We left off last episode with a genuinely funny problem: two separate Odd
Eggs, back to back, from the day care man and the day care lady in
Goldenrod City. Neither of us planned for that. One egg from the day
care man, who apparently found it while looking after someone else’s
Pokemon. One from the day care lady, minutes later, no explanation
needed beyond “here’s an egg.”
So now we’re carrying two Pokemon Crystal daycare eggs at once, and this
episode is about figuring out what that actually means for the team.
Do we hatch them both right away? Do we hold onto one as a surprise for
later? Jess has a theory about what’s likely inside based on which
Pokemon we’ve been breeding-adjacent to in Goldenrod, and we get into
that on stream.
If you’re new to the daycare system in Gen 2, this is also where we
break down how breeding actually works in Pokemon Crystal — what makes
an egg appear, how long it takes to hatch, and why leaving Pokemon at
the day care for leveling can sometimes come with a bonus you didn’t
ask for.
Goldenrod, Continued
We didn’t finish exploring Goldenrod City last time, so we’re heading
back in. The Radio Tower has been teased in NPC dialogue for two
episodes running now, and we’ve still got a full casino floor in the
Game Corner that we never actually gambled in. That’s on the list this
episode, along with whatever else Goldenrod has tucked away that we
missed on the first pass.
Expect more of the Department Store too — we found five floors last
time and still weren’t totally sure we’d seen everything.
The Series
Break has never played a Pokemon game. Jess has loved Pokemon Crystal
since she was a kid. Every episode is Jess teaching Break the game, live
on stream, one gym at a time, until we catch ’em all (or die trying).
