Jess Seidel is a screenwriter, producer, and director from Kansas. She earned her B.A. in Mass Media with a concentration in Film and Video from Washburn University in 2024 and is currently pursuing her MFA in Writing for Screen and Television at the University of Southern California, where she is set to graduate in 2026.
Her credits include the award-winning short film The Getaway, which she wrote and directed, as well as For the Sins of Midnight (writer) and Until It’s Gone (writer/director). Jess also worked for the WIFI Film Festival, serving as PR Manager in 2023 and Content Director in 2024. She is currently an Associate Producer and Story Consultant on the feature film Eyes Open, where her contributions include script development, social media management, and coverage.
Jess’s love for storytelling was shaped early on by video games. The first game she ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog on her aunt’s Sega Genesis — a distraction while her mom recovered from wisdom tooth removal. At age seven, her family got their first gaming console, the original Xbox, and she spent countless hours playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Jet Set Radio Future, and Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex. By age ten, she had saved enough money to buy her own console, the Nintendo GameCube, where she discovered her love for franchises like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing.
